INTRODUCTION Technology has become an integral part of our society and will affect the lives of our students in many ways, today's students are known as 'digital natives' because they have grown up with technology. The 'basics' of education now include such things as: accessing and analyzing information, multimedia production, desktop and web publishing, graphics and computer science. These technological skills are necessary in order to operate productively in the information age. Our students should be able to gather, organize, analyze, synthesize and communicate information using the new media of cyberspace. The Boissevain School ICT plan has, as its' ultimate goal, the improvement of learning. Skills to be addressed go far beyond the mere acquisition of computer skills. They must address issues of media literacy, collaboration, analysis and synthesis of information and communication of ideas. It is the view of the Boissevain School ICT Committee that technology can and should be used as a tool to increase motivation, enhance learning and address multiple learning styles. The Boissevain School ICT plan, like any good plan, it is not meant to be a static recipe, but a dynamic guide to be reviewed and modified yearly. It is the intention of the Boissevain School ICT committee to assist teachers and students in achieving technological literacy by encouraging the ongoing maintenance of up to date equipment, software, resources and training so that technology may be integrated into all areas of Boissevain School to enhance learning.
